Emergency boil water notice for Prince Albert

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - More than 40,000 people in a central Saskatchewan city are being told to boil their water because of parasites.
The emergency notice from the local health region applies to Prince Albert and any areas that use the rural water supply.
The notice covers any water that may enter a person's mouth.
The Prince Albert health region says on its website that pathogenic micro-organisms (giardia and cryptosporidium oocysts) have been found in the public water supply.
The emergency notice comes after a boil water advisory was issued last week because of problems at the water treatment plant.
A faulty valve caused waste water to enter the water reservoir.
